BOTOX Cosmetic
Age, sun, and stress can all contribute to facial lines and wrinkles which can deepen over time, making us look less than rested. Some of these lines can now be minimized, and in some cases erased, thanks to the help of BOTOX Cosmetic!

BOTOX Cosmetic is an FDA approved prescription injection that is virtually painless and is very effective in the relaxation of specific muscles. This controlled relaxation inhibits our ability to contract muscles that lead to deep lines and wrinkles. BOTOX has been approved for use in minimizing frown lines between the eye brows, but can be used in other areas as well, such as in the forehead, Bunny lines, and Crow’s feet.

Cavity Detection with DIAGNOdent

Locating hidden decay before it destroys tooth structure (from the inside out) is a major goal for modern dentistry. The widespread use of fluoride supplements in dental materials, toothpastes and drinking water has made tooth surfaces harder and more resistant to decay. However, diagnosing cavities beneath the hard surfaces is more challenging because the disease process can start through microscopic defects in the hard surface enamel and can readily spread into the softer tooth structure beneath the surface.Introducing DIAGNOdent…

Our quest for continuing education has kept us at the forefront of current dental treatments. Dr.Peritore believes that new technology is just as important to integrate into our high level of care. In order to maintain oral health, the earliest possible care is essential. Our office now has a simple, fast and painless examination using the DIAGNOdent, a harmless laser scanner, which will help us with the early detection of decay. Even very small areas in question are now detected at the earliest stage, enabling us to protect and preserve your teeth and smile. The DIAGNOdent laser cavity detection system is the most significant breakthrough in technology. With the widespread use of fluoride in both drinking water and toothpastes, it is much harder to detect tooth decay than ever before. This is because the fluoride hardens the enamel so that most decay starts in microscopic defects in the hard surface, and can readily spread into the softer surface beneath. This destroys the tooth from the inside out. Call today to learn about how you can benefit from an examination with DIAGNOdent.

This unique instrument provides instant feedback on the health of the tooth. A pen like probe simply glides over tooth surfaces constantly checking the health of the tooth. A number scale and an alarm signals the operator when there are signs of hidden decay. This new technology is completely safe and pain-free.

We encourage regular check-ups, cleanings and home care. Early detection of problems minimize the expenses related to major tooth repair. New technologies take us a giant step forward to helping you achieve the goal of minimally invasive dentistry.

Composite "White" Fillings

Many people have so called silver or mercury fillings in their teeth. It is true that these fillings do contain some mercury. There has been much debate about the effects of these fillings on a persons general health. In fact, there are those who say that some systemic diseases can be caused and/or exacerbated by mercury based fillings.

What is clear is that we do have better alternatives today. Today’s composite fillings are not only strong and durable and without mercury, but as you can see much more esthetically pleasing than the traditional amalgam filling.

Dental Emergencies

Dental emergencies are quite frightening and often painful. Prompt treatment is almost always required to alleviate pain and to ensure the teeth have the best possible chance of survival. Sometimes teeth become fractured by trauma, grinding or biting on hard objects. In other cases, fillings, crowns and other restorative devices can be damaged or fall out of the mouth completely. If you have severe pain, it is essential to make an appointment as quickly as possible. The pain caused by dental emergencies almost always gets worse without treatment, and dental issues can seriously jeopardize physical health. To that end we will always do our very best to see you as soon as possible.

Dental Implants

What are dental implants? Dental implants are a safe, medically proven, aesthetic alternative to traditional crowns, bridgework, and dentures. Because implant restorations look and feel more like natural teeth, they offer new levels of comfort, security and confidence over traditional treatments. For more than two decades, dental implants have been helping to provide quality of life to patients with restorative needs.

If you are missing single or multiple teeth, or use a removable partial or full denture then implant-supported crowns or bridges may be a solution for you.

Whether you are young, middle-aged or an older adult; whether you need to replace one tooth, several teeth or all of your teeth, there is a dental implant solution for you.

“I had never heard of implants until my dentist told me they were the best choice for my situation. Now I don’t know how I ever lived with dentures.”

“I was surprised at how little discomfort I felt during the implant procedures. And my new implants look and feel great.”

Dentures

A denture is a removable dental appliance replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue. They are made to closely resemble your natural teeth and may even enhance your smile.

There are two types of dentures – complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. A Partial denture not only fills in the spaces created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from shifting.

A Complete denture may be either “conventional” or “immediate.” A conventional type is made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has healed, usually taking 4 to 6 weeks. During this time the patient will go without teeth. Immediate dentures are made in advance and immediately placed after the teeth are removed, thus preventing the patient from having to be without teeth during the healing process. Once the tissues shrink and heal, adjustments will have to be made.

Invisalign
Crooked teeth?

Not interested in wearing traditional “Braces”?

Align them with Invisalign.

Straight teeth are not just for kids. As a matter of fact those crooked teeth not only affect the way you look, but as your teeth continue to shift it actually becomes much more difficult to maintain healthy gums. This can, over time, contribute to the loosening and eventual loss of teeth.

Using Invisalign technology we can now straighten those misaligned teeth (invisibly-see color photo on the left model is wearing aligner) greatly improving your oral and systemic health, and of course giving you that smile you deserve.

Invisalign: The clear way to align your teeth—without traditional braces!

No, you’re not too old for orthodontic treatment. And no, orthodontic treatment doesn’t have to mean braces. Invisalign can give you the beautiful straight teeth you’ve always dreamed of. It works through a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you’re wearing. So you can smile and laugh more during treatment as well as after.

In most cases, now we can correct crooked teeth–gradually, precisely, and virtually invisibly. With the computerized Invisalign system we create a series of finely-calibrated clear aligners–each of which you wear for about two weeks.

Oral Surgery

Tooth extraction can be performed with local anesthesia if the tooth is exposed and appears to be easily removable in one piece. The dentist or oral surgeon uses an instrument called an elevator to loosen the tooth; widen the space in the underlying bone; and break the tiny elastic fibers that attach the tooth to the bone. Once the tooth is dislocated from the bone, it can be lifted and removed with forceps

Porcelain Laminates and Veneers

Teeth can sometimes be relatively straight but warn, chipped and/or discolored. Sometimes whitening may not be enough to achieve that exceptional smile. In these cases, we can use porcelain laminates to achieve that brilliant smile we all love.

Using this technique we can customize part or all of your smile. Teeth shapes, shades, and lengths can all be enhanced to give you that perfect smile.

Root Canal Treatment

What is a Root Canal? Root canal treatment is the removal of the tooth’s pulp, a small, thread-like tissue in the center of the tooth. Once the damaged, diseased or dead pulp is removed, the remaining space is cleaned, shaped and filled.

This procedure seals off the root canal. Years ago, teeth with diseased or injured pulps were removed. Today, root canal treatment saves many teeth that would otherwise be lost.

The most common causes of pulp damage or death are: a cracked tooth, deep cavity or an injury to a tooth, such as a severe knock to the tooth, either recent or in the past

Once the pulp is infected or dead, if left untreated, pus can build up at the root tip in the jawbone, forming an abscess. An abscess can destroy the bone surrounding the tooth and cause pain. Treatment is essential.

If in fact you need a root canal, Dr. Peritore, by using the most state-of-the-art techniques and materials along with a gentle and soothing atmosphere can assure you a pain free positive experience. We welcome and actually enjoy the opportunity to ease your pain.
